Student Ambassadors
After submitting an application at the end of their fourth grade year, perspective fifth grade students are selected by a committee of teachers based on their academic success and demonstration of leadership and good character.

Ambassadors will serve as hosts and hostesses at various school events as needed. These events may include, but are not limited to assisting Kindergarten and other new students with arrival and dismissal procedures, Morning Greeters, Innovation Night, Veteran’s Day Celebration, Career Fair, Character Celebration,  Ability Fair, Kindergarten Registration, peer tutors and weekly office aides.

Student Council
The student council is comprised of one representative from each class from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. They are selected by their peers. The primary job of the student council is to run the school store. They also do two fundraisers (Boo Grams and Heart Grams). In addition they meet with administrators throughout the year to give feedback about things such as school climate, rules and address questions from the suggestion box. All representatives participate in all activities.

Broadcast
Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to sign up at the beginning of the school year to participate in the school's daily morning broadcast.  Broadcast members are given a week's assignment which includes both behind the scenes and on-air positions.  The morning broadcast consists of a welcome message, the pledge of allegiance, weather reporting, current school events, character education, the day's cafeteria menu and other interesting tidbits to jump start our school day.

Safety Patrol
Fourth grade students may apply to be on Safety Patrol at the beginning of their second sememster.  This position carries over to their 5th grade year at Riverchase.  Students may sign up for morning 7:10-7:40am or afternoon 2:45-3:15pm shifts.  These students motion for carpool traffic to flow smoothly and will open car doors to assist students leaving their vehicles in the morning or getting into their vehicles in the afternoon.  Wearing a school-provided orange safety vest is not just a fashion statement, it's a requirement!

Gems

The Girls Engaged in Math and Science (GEMS) Club is available for girls in elementary school.  GEMS is a state-wide educational program designed to actively involve girls in STEM-related activities through formal and informal learning environments.   Through this club, the girls will work with the sponsors to determine a common STEM interest, research this topic through math and science investigations, and create a project centered around this topic. Please contact the main office for more information.
